Common Ground Just Breaking Ground | New Coffee House

If you happen to take a leisurely drive down Emory Street toward Oxford, you might notice a new establishment to our community. Located on the right, next to Connexion Church, we have a brand new spot called Common Ground Coffee House!

Common Ground officially opened on Friday, January 8th and held their ribbon cutting with friends and family at 5:00pm. The shop itself is located within a historic home on Emory Street, and has a cordial, comfortable feel when you are inside.

Color blocked walls welcome you with bright, vibrant colors and gorgeous attention to detail—like a Tiffany blue room with a gold fireplace! The coffee house also has a plethora of rooms and beautiful furniture, just to suit your current mood.

The vision for Common Ground was to closely follow the true ‘coffee house’ model. You can try delicious craft coffee offerings such as a French press, or a decadent Chemex Pour Over coffee. pour over coffeePour over coffee allows you to brew your coffee as bold as you wish and to get the best, most authentic flavor from your brew without getting any coffee grounds or sediment in your beverage. We urge you to give it a try! Common Ground currently carries Focus, Plenty, and Sugar Cane Decaf blend coffees by local Safe House Coffee Roasters in Griffin, GA. They are also working on expanding to espresso drinks as soon as possible.

Common Ground is a para-church organization throughConnexion Church at North Covington, a UMC Church plant. The purpose of the coffee house was to provide an outreach opportunity to people in Oxford, specifically the droves of Oxford College of Emory University students that walk down Emory Street. Lead Pastor of Connexion, Andrew Covington took on the job of seeing the coffee shop from start to finish.

Fortunately for Andrew and his team, he had connections with leaders at the already established nonprofit Awake Coffee Community in Olde Towne Conyers. Directors of Awake, Jason and Noelle Cosby helped the Common Ground team with their startup processes, getting supplies together, and even donated their first coffee bar from when they broke ground in April of 2015.

Stop by today to try a delicious pour over coffee and a giant blueberry muffin. Between the warm staff, the friendly environment, and the delectable infusions, you’ll never want to leave!
