Covington’s Newest Police Officer- Officer Morgan

boy copThere’s nothing like being able to see someone’s dream come true right in front of you.

Morgan Steward is a 5-year-old from Covington with a genetic condition which affects his muscle movement.  His dream was to be a police officer, and on December 2, he was able to raise his hand and take the oath to become an honorary Covington Police Officer.  He even got to lead the Covington Christmas Parade in a police car, and show off his new uniform.  Now that he’s an officer, he has an even bigger dream of catching bad guys and writing a parking ticket.

This Tuesday, December 17, the city of Covington is planning on making those dreams come true, and has declared that day Officer Morgan day.  He has been dutifully memorizing the Miranda, and has a special speech to deliver.

We are looking for as many volunteers as possible to come out and line the streets of downtown Covington this Tuesday from 10:00 to 1:00 to help cheer him on as he saves the city from “bad guys”.  You can help by making signs with support for Officer Morgan, and sharing the information about the event with the hashtag #OfficerMorgan.  If you’re interested in helping make these dreams come true, you can sign up to volunteer at http://covington.11alive.com/news/news/519672-sign-volunteer-officermorgan-day , or you can contact Jenna Levetan at jlevetan@11alive.com or 404-873-9114.
