Glory Wins “Best Original Song” at The Oscars


Glory took home the Oscar for Best Original SongThe 87th annual Academy Awards took place last night. Among the stunning celebrities, designer fashion and the celebration of the best major motion pictures of the year – there was a message to be heard. Selma has been an award winning film since its release at the end of last year. The original song Glory, sung by John Legend and Common, from the film Selma took home the Oscar for “Best Original Song.”

John Legend and Common also performed their original song last night. The performance could best be described as a tearjerker and most of the audience was seen letting out a tear or two as John Legend and Common took control of the stage in one of the most emotional performances of the night. It was shortly after this stunning performance of Glory that John Legend and Common took the stage again to claim the Oscar for Best Original Song of 2015.

The message that John Legend and Common have been continuously spreading at these award ceremonies is one of hope and progress. They used their Oscar acceptance speech as an opportunity to bring together the entire United States. Glory has already become a best selling song and can be purchased on iTunes.

Glory has helped Selma gain the success that it has so readily received since its release. Selma was filmed in Covington, Georgia and continues to spread the message of progress.
