Hello, Dolly: Ms. Parton Returns for Coat of Many Colors Sequel

dolly partonWell, hello Dolly! If you’ve been anywhere near Covington, Georgia of late, then you know that our town has been abuzz with sightings of the lady herself, Mrs. Dolly Parton. That’s right, Dolly is back! She’s been seen around the Covington Square this summer, as film crews begin work on her latest film project. Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love has been set as the sequel to Ms. Parton’s hugely successful Coat of Many Colors. The film premiered on NBC late last year, and became the most successful television movie broadcast in the last seven years.

We broke the news of Coat of Many Colors almost two years ago, when we spotted Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland fame and Ricky Schroder strolling around Covington. We even got a chance to catch up with Dolly’s sister Stella, who played Corla Bass in the film. And we’re pretty sure everyone in Covington tuned in on December 10th, 2015, when Coat of Many Colors premiered and viewers caught glimpses of their hometown on the silver screen.

dolly partonNow, we can share some exclusive details that we’ve learned about the sequel! While details of the sequel are still tightly under wraps, we do know that it will be a Christmas film. And, from the snow machines seen around The Little Shop, it looks like it’ll be a White Christmas, at that. A synopsis from Variety declares, “ ‘Dolly Parton’s Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love’ is the next chapter in the life of young Dolly Parton. The film will deliver Christmas joy and peril as an unexpected blizzard threatens the Parton family, while at the same time Dolly’s father (and his kids) make sacrifices to raise enough money to finally buy his loving wife the wedding ring he could never afford to give her. Meanwhile, an important person in little Dolly’s life begins to see that her amazing voice and musical gift might just be made for something bigger than rural Tennessee.”

We can share that Jennifer Nettles and Ricky Schroder have both returned to reprise their roles as Avie Lee and Robert Parton. Alyvia Alyn Lind will also return, as young Dolly herself. And, if we catch anymore sights of Dolly, around Covington, we’ll be sure to let you know. Welcome back, Dolly! We’re so pleased to have you back!
