Hollywood of the South: People’s Choice Awards 2014

IanThe Hollywood of the South, Covington, Ga, was represented in Hollywood recently.  The 2014 People’s Choice Awards was a big night for The Vampire Diaries, with the cast and crew of Mystic Falls being nominated for four awards, winning two of them!

This Hollywood event hosted many of the Hollywood of the South’s stars, including Elena, Damon, and Stefan. Nina Dobrev stunned in a black long-sleeve Jenny Packham dress and silver strappy heels.  The Bulgarian-Canadian actress, who turned 25 on Saturday, won for Best Onscreen Chemistry with her ex-beau Ian Somerhalder.

Ian showed up rocking a classic black suit, chic grey tie, and matching pocket square. The pair made light of their real-life awkward situation by addressing their break-up, which happened last May, on stage. When their win was announced, the two made their way to the stage to accept the award together. After some playful banter, Nina mentions how they fell in love on the show, with Ian chiming in about how their onscreen romance turned real-life fling. Nina then comes back with how the then-couple broke up in real life, but they made light of the situation, with Dobrev saying “It’s a good thing it’s not awkward!” Finally, Ian plants a kiss on Nina’s cheek, and all is well, especially in Mystic Falls, where the couple is definitely still a thing.

Ian took home the award for Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy Actor, making the night extra special for this TVD actor. Unfortunately, Dobrev fell short in her category of the same nature, and The Vampire Diaries lost to another CW favorite, Beauty and the Beast. However, all is still well in Mystic Falls, which will be celebrating it’s 100th episode on January 23rd, airing on the CW.  The Vampire Diaries’ filming location is right here in the Hollywood of the South – Covington, Ga!
