Covington GA has many historic homes that have been around before the Civil War. The town is known for its incredible history and the mansions that have stayed still, even during the Sherman March. Covington has brought many tourists over to Georgia to see the idyllic homes that have made history.
For the next couple of weeks, we will be giving you an inside look at the incredible historic homes here in Covington GA. Our first mansion, is the famous Worthington Manor. The home was built in 1850, before the Civil War. Obviously the manor has been around for some time, which adds more character to this historic home.
The Lockwood Mansion- Worthington Manor is a primary filming location in Covington GA. This manor is an original Antebellum home surrounded by an iron-gated fence. The lot contains a huge fountain in the front of the manor and a beautiful garden in the backyard. There also is a lake in the backyard, which some fans from The Vampire Diaries will recognize.
Worthington Manor has been used as a filming location especially for the TV show, The Vampire Diaries. The mansion has been used vicariously through out each season of The Vampire Diaries. The owners bought Worthington Manor and renovated it in 1997. The Vampire Diaries producers came looking for the Mayor's mansion and Worthington Manor stuck out to them.
The owners of this great manor have become quite close with the cast and crew of The Vampire Diaries. The Worthington Manor has become a treasure in the Hollywood of the South.
