Local Business Spotlight: Farmers Markets in Newton

Farmers Market

It’s that time of the year again—farmers market season. Buying from a local market can not only give you the freshest fruits and veggies around, it helps out the local businesses in Newton. These community-friendly places offer you fresh fruits, crisp vegetables, and yummy jams, among other things.

Knowing that people from the county you live in harvested these ingredients themselves makes biting into them that much sweeter.  Here are a list of the local Newton County farmers’ markets that you can attend!

Noring Farms on Floyd
As the name implies, this farmers market is located on Floyd street in Covington. This is the place where you can get a famous Tomato Pie, along with Shepard’s Pie, and more! Molly’s Corner is the place you can get beautiful plants, and the Sugar Shack is there for you to fill your sweet tooth cravings! Open Tuesday-Friday 10:00am-6:00pm, and Saturday from 10:00am-5:00pm!

Alcovy Berry Farm – Henderson Mill
This is your one-stop-shop for all things jam. Blackberry, blueberry, strawberry, raspberry—you name it, they have it! Fresh berries are available for you to pick and take home too. I would suggest trying the apple butter, there’s nothing better! Call (770) 385-7383 for more information!

CJ Orchards – Old Mill Road
CJ Orchards is where you go to get those famous Georgia Peaches. While it is just across the Newton County line, it is definitely worth stopping by on your way to these local places. Pick your fresh peaches and other fruits and vegetables, depending on what’s in season. Barn hours are Monday through Saturday from 9:00am-5:00pm!
