Local Business Spotlight: The Center

The CenterNewton County is a great place full of great people; people who really care about one another and about how we live our lives. With well-being being a priority here, it’s only likely that there would be some type of system set up to carry out the plan of making sure Newton stays at its best. Here, we have The Center for Community Preservation and Planning.

It all started in 2002, when the threat of having the great open lands of Newton was questioned. Locals came together to make sure the sprawl from Atlanta was kept under control.

What ended up happening was the 2050 Plan. Putting around 80% of the incoming population into around 30% of the land would keep new residence and local citizens happy. It would also keep a thriving agricultural scene going, which makes everyone happy. At the forefront of this project is Kay Lee, who is really helping to make Newton a better place. To check out the 2050 Plan, you should read about it on The Center’s blog. You can take a look here.

Having The Center around to help not only with this kind of planning, but to help any local citizen with questions is something we should really cherish in Newton County. If you have any questions, please feel free to stop by The Center at 2104 Washington Street or check out their website! And remember, Go Covington!
