Start 2015 Outdoors in Newton County!

Looking for fun things to do in Newton County and a way to enjoy the cooler weather? Newton County is home to three family-friendly trails that are the perfect places to begin the New Year! Spending time outdoors with your family is a great way to create memories that will last forever.

The Turner Lake Trail system is located conveniently in Newton County. It has much to offer with three miles of paved and unpaved trails, a beautiful lake that sits behind the trails, and the Turner Lake Complex with baseball fields nearby, all outdoors. The Turner Lake Trail System is very family oriented and will have your kids excited about spending some time outdoors in 2015! If you and your children are interested in learning more about nature, follow the paved loop to the outdoor classroom where you can learn more about the Piedmont Woodlands.

After visiting the Turner Lake Trail System, head over to the Yellow River Trails. In 2006, a 1480-foot concrete loop trail was built along the Yellow River in Porterdale at the Yellow River Park. This concrete trail is a great place to get a little exercise with your family and enjoy the cooler weather outdoors during the holiday season!

The last fun trail located in Newton County is the Newton Trails Network. A Newton County non-profit organization promoted and developed this trail network to encourage exercise among pedestrians and bicyclists. This well-built, family-friendly trail was built to promote physical fitness and health among everyone in the Newton County area. It is a great place to head to if you are looking for some outdoor activity with your family!
