The Covington Walk of Stars – 10th Stop; Cannonball Run

Cannonball_runThe Covington Walk of Stars is one of the best tours The Hollywood of the South has to offer! Covington Georgia has designed this tour for its patrons to see just where their favorite movies and TV shows have been filmed! Newton County and Georgia alike have played host to many Hollywood goodies since before the 1950’s and this week we’d like to feature the #10 spot on the Covington Walk of Stars- Cannonball Run!

Cannonball Run is a movie that was filmed in 1981, and features many Hollywood stars such as Burt Reynolds, Dom DeLuise, Farrah Fawcett, Sammy Davis Jr, Dean Martin, Jackie Chan, Roger Moore, and many more! This hilarious comedy featuring A-List actors was about many eccentric characters that were all taking part in a cross country race of illegal proportions. This comedy film was one of the most successful films in the Box Office in 1981. Cannonball Run also boasts one of the final film appearances by Dean Martin.

Cannonball Run director Hal Needham  cleverly designed the film to include reenactments of real facts and events from races including the same Dodge Tradesman Ambulance from the 1979 race.

To see who wins I suggest you watch the film if you haven’t already and come on down to the Covington Walk of Stars and the #10 spot featuring Cannonball Run! You won’t regret the unique feeling of being there when it happened; that The Hollywood of the South provides its patrons! Hope to see you soon.
