TVslide_Pdale Converse Oct 2013-2If you are an avid fan of symphony orchestra, or just recently discovering its beauty, you will want to save the date for  Saturday, October 12th. The City of Porterdale and Arts Association of Newton County are putting on a free classical concert at First United Methodist Church of Covington featuring the Converse College Symphony Orchestra. This historic venue has been recently renovated and is absolutely stunning! Come out and enjoy this fantastic venue! Performances begin at 7 pm and will include selections from Handel’s Water Music and other favorites performed by Converse College.

Here is a little history of Converse College, if you are not already familiar. The music school of Converse, The Carroll McDaniel Petrie School, is the nation’s only professional school of music within a liberal arts college for women. It was the first women’s college to achieve Steinway School status. Converse performs several times each year, presenting the standard orchestral repertoire and accompanying oratorios, ballets and Converse Opera Theatre productions. This performance by Converse College Symphony Orchestra will be a spectacular one, so mark your calendars to come out and listen! Even if you are passing through Newton County this weekend, this concert is a perfect event to attend!

As we mentioned before, this event is completely free to enjoy! We hope to see you there for this night of beautiful music!
