Have you ever walked around the Covington Square and wondered how the engraved pavers came to be on our sidewalks?
Covington Georgia boasts a landslide of Hollywood activity. This Hollywood influence graces our town from films like Selma, to My Cousin Vinny, to Remember the Titans and many more. Reese Witherspoon has even visited our friendly little town while filming the movie, Sweet Home Alabama. We must admit, however, that it is the CW’s, television phenomena The Vampire Diaries that draws our biggest crowds.
To honor our celebrity connections, past Tourism Director, Clara Deemer created the Covington Walk of Starts. Tourists and locales alike can see the pavers honoring production starts that have filmed in Covington and learn about the movies and actors who have shaped the film history of Covington and perhaps more importantly…take some amazing selfies on our Hollywood “back lot”.
Ian Somerhalder from The Vampire Diaries has its own paver right on the square near Bread and Butter Bakery, and Cannonball Run‘s paver lies close to our newest restaurant City Pharmacy, where the Burt Reynolds & Farrah Fawcett feature was originally filmed.
There are over 35 pavers lining downtown Covington, with more to be added. The Covington Walk of Starts is a self guided attraction that is Free to enjoy.
On your next visit to our fair city, why not enjoy one of the top tourist attractions in Georgia, the Covington Walk of Stars and see for yourself why our town is called the original “Hollywood of the South.”
