Wander Through Wonderland on the Square

Christmas time is here and Covington is filled with cheer! Since the Lighting of the Square, our elves have been busy decking the halls around the Covington Square in preparation for some holiday happenings. They’ve turned our historic Square into Santa’s Village and a Winter Wonderland! Enjoy these holiday delights all season long. Why not make the holidays even more special by staying in Covington for the weekend? Did you know that there is a Gingerbread House display in the Courthouse? You can check it out while Christmas shopping on the Square. In fact, every Thursday in December (starting December 1^st through the 15^th) has been designated for Christmas Shopping! You can shop til you drop and take a complimentary carriage ride around Santa’s Village, aka our Square.

The holiday cheer doesn’t stop here. Every Friday, gather on the Square from 6pm to 9pm, for all of your favorite Christmas films. Mark your calendars for the following movie nights:

·         December 2^nd : The Polar Express – Bring a non-perishable food item

·         December 9^th: How the Grinch Stole Christmas – Bring a new unwrapped toy

·         December 16^th: A Charlie Brown Christmas – Bring a new hat, gloves, or scarf

Each Friday Night Film is also the perfect chance for you to spread the Christmas cheer to our community. We’ve partnered with the FUMC Food Pantry, the Covington Salvation Army, and the Covington Alcovy Casa to help impoverished families. All you have to do is bring the requested items above when you join us for our holiday films.

During these Friday Night Films, you can wander through Santa’s Village and enjoy the many great activities that will be going on. There will be pony rides, bucket truck rides, cookie decorating, and storytelling at various locations on the Square. Ever wonder what it’s like to live in a snow globe? Well, we’re having a life-size snow globe, so you can find out! And, you can even visit the Big Man himself. Santa Claus will be on hand to greet the good boys and girls and hear their Christmas wishes. Visit our website for a full itinerary.

Let’s not forget the real reason for the season. On December 11^th, from 6pm to 9pm, you can experience the true story of Christmas with our live Nativity scene, sponsored by Zaxby’s of Covington. Witness the miracle of the Christmas unfold, live before your very eyes. Bask in the glow of the greatest story ever told and wonder at the true meaning of Christmas.
